• Scrimshaw (2016, William Holland – School of Lapidary Arts) – Learn scrimshaw and have fun as you progress from simple designs to gift-quality items. We will cover project design and presentation, line cutting, stippling, applying color, laws and
    identification of ivories, as well as the sourcing and preparation of working materials. Drawing skills are not a prerequisite, though patience is a plus. We will cover all drawing, shading and perspective required for your projects. All material is in compliance with federal laws. You can expect to work on materials such as fossil mammoth ivory, vegetable ivory (tagua nut), horn, antler, bone, Micarta and artificial ivory. Your class kit, which you keep, includes working material for five projects, and all required tools and support material such as patterns, reproduction capabilities, inks and wood veneer.
